Blues in town 2010

After the Tour experience of 2009, Blues in Town returns to its origins, repopulates Piazza Segni! Its historic location sees the festival protagonist from 11 to 15 August, with an excellent artistic and musical program.

Opening the edition of the return to “their” Piazza Segni is the Lucan group Tarantolati di Tricarico, already guests of the Bit ’07 and eager to be present at the 7th edition.

Thursday 12 August it was the turn of Jasse James King, a great bluesman with an exciting charge and power. He has reached the top of the international charts several times and participated in numerous tours with artists such as the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Hendrix, Gene Vincent.

He has been called “the most intelligent and gifted rock guitarist that Italy has ever had”, he is Tolo Marton. Protagonist of the third evening of Bit ’10, he is one of the major supporters of live music in the non-commercial Italian scene. Innovative, multifaceted musician, with a vast repertoire in which rock, blues, country, psychedelic, melody and silence languages ​​chase each other. He was the winner in 1998 of the prestigious world competition “Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Festival” and collaborated with the actor Marco Paolini and the cellist Mario Brunello on the theatrical project “Carta Bianca”.

Defined “lady in blues” Amy Coleman, the woman who sings, acts, lives the blues. New York artist with a biting and powerful voice, she is the female protagonist of August 14th. Hers is an eclectic style, she was inspired by great artists such as the Beatles, Otis Redding, Billie Holiday, Bertolt Brecht and Edith Piaf and the meeting with the Italian composer, Enzo Filippelli, marked the beginning of a long tour throughout southern Italy, singing a mix of blues, jazz, European pop and art song in theaters, stadiums and squares.

The closing of the 7th edition was entrusted to the live performance of Neffa, one of the best known artists in the Italian pop scene. Present on the stage of Blues in Town with his “Sognando contromano”, the latest work by the melodic but original singer-songwriter, light and deep at the same time. Eleven songs of dreams lived as hopes for a better tomorrow, inspired and refined, which reconfirm Neffa as an author of great depth.

The seventh edition of Blues in Towni also featured “Blues in Town on tour”. Three places in the province of Matera that wanted the Blues in Town: Scanzano, Rotondella and Contrada Acinello – near the Municipality of Stigliano. Three evenings of live concerts with the disruptive energy of the BiT team.

Starting from Friday 30 July in Scanzano, with the performance in the square of Larry Ray, American soul singer and purebred artist who amazed for his ability to mix soul, funky, blues, gospel, jazz, rap and who knew interpret the territories of Black Music with very personal timbre characteristics.

On 5 August the Bit on tour moved to Rotondella, a characteristic hilly center in the province of Matera, which hosted the great star of modern blues and ethnic contamination, the Jamaican Scheol Dilu Miller. Powerful voice, stage presence, exuberant personality. Arthur Miles concluded the Blues in Town tour on Thursday 19th August. One of the most popular blues musicians in recording studios around the world, the guest of the Bit on tour turned on the spotlight with his concert in Contrada Acinello, in the industrial area of ​​Stigliano.

The Blues in Town is popular poetry, the manifestation of a feeling, the story of a people that transforms itself into the history of all times, wearing the clothes of a universal language, that of emotions in music notes.
